This workshop is appropriate for speech/ language pathologists, OTs, PTs, teachers, paraprofessionals, home therapists, social workers, parents, psychologists, behavior analysts, program administrators and supervisors who are looking for comprehensive training and application opportunities. It is ideal for those who are creating special education instructional programs or currently working with an existing program and whose students are in need of a functional communication system. This is an in-depth five-day workshop on implementing the Pyramid Approach to Education, designed for cross-disciplinary teams. The five training days may be completed in one week or spread out across the year. Topics include functional activities, reinforcement systems, communication/ social skills, contextually inappropriate behaviors and alternatives, generalization, creating effective lessons, specific teaching strategies, minimizing and correcting errors, and data collection and analysis. Activities include lecture, demonstration, video review, group writing activities, team planning, and role-playing. This workshop includes the complete PECS training and is appropriate for teams who are creating special education instructional programs or for existing teams looking for comprehensive training and application opportunities.
